Chase Street Reconfiguration & Complete Street Study

1.4.18 Update:  On January 17, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, there will be a drop-in public meeting to review alternative solutions for the Chase Street corridor. Based on input received from the public and technical analyses completed to date, alternative solutions have been crafted to address the multimodal needs of the corridor and surrounding environment. Display boards will present background of the study, guiding principles, and alternatives. Citizens will have the opportunity to comment on alternatives and influence the final recommendations that will be developed for Chase Street..

On May 3, 2016, the Mayor and Commission approved a road diet on portions of the Chase Street corridor. In June 2017, asphalt resurfacing was completed on North Chase Street and temporary paint pavement markings were installed. Later that month, ACC Transportation & Public Works staff completed a Traffic Impact Analysis of the new markings.

On August 1, 2017, the Mayor & Commission approved the ACC Transportation and Public Works Department's recommendation to return North Chase Street from 965 North Chase Street (near the bridge) to Newton Bridge Road to conditions prior to June 2017 using temporary pavement markings.

The recommendation also included conducting a Complete Street Study on the stretch to evaluate alternates to improve safety and connectivity of freight, bikes, pedestrians, and vehicles along the corridor.

The full presentation from the July 26 public forum is available online.
