Proposed Budget Cuts and Service Reductions/Changes


NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

Athens Transit, a department of the Athens Clarke-County Unified Government, has scheduled public hearings to receive comments and citizen input on proposed FY13 Transit Service Fare Increase. This hearing meets the requirements as established by the FTA pursuant to 49 USC Section 5307(c). 

Public hearings will be held in the North Lobby of the Multimodal Transportation Center and have been scheduled for:

                              Thursday, May 17, 2012,   3:30 - 4:30 PM
                              Thursday, May 31, 2012,   5:30 - 6:30 PM

                                                 775 E. Broad St (Hickory St. Ext.)
                                                 Athens, Georgia

Public hearings will be also held in the North Lobby of the Multimodal Transportation Center to discuss the final FY 2013 Transit Budget. These discussions will include possible fare increase and / or service changes on::

                            Wednesday, June 6, 2012,  2:00 - 3:00 PM
                                                                  6:00 - 7:00 PM
    
                                                 775 E. Broad St (Hickory St. Ext.)
                                                 Athens, Georgia
    

This service reduction will mean rolling back night service hours from the current 10:00 P.M. to all service ending by 8:00 P.M.

Public comment will be accepted from May 7, 2012 - June 4, 2012. Comments can be submitted online at http://www.athenstransit.com/contact-ats.html , mailed or delivered to the aforementioned location.

Great News: New Shelters Coming Soon!

Look for four new music-themed bus shelters unveiled in April 2010, with four more coming in 2011. Designs for Round II and III convey the theme of Art Rocks! A Public Art Tribute to the Music of Athens. These music themed shelters will transform basic public transportation services into an inspirational experience for everyone.

  • Athens Transit System (ATS) has completed their Transit Development Plan.

    The purpose of the plan update is to assess the operations of Athens Transit System to ensure that the system meets the needs of the community in an efficient and economically effective manner.
